New insights into visual-motor integration exploring process measures during copying shapes

چکیده
The link between visual-motor integration (VMI) and executive functions (EF) has been repeatedly documented in preschool children. VMI is often assessed using the Copy Design task measuring product, thereby neglecting processes that lead to a specific copy. Furthermore, EF are assumed be mainly involved when new. involvement of after minimal practice VMI, however, unknown. Therefore, present study investigated product- (i.e., accuracy) process-based measures, namely velocity, fluency, five consecutive trials copying shapes. Contributions manual dexterity both product across were sample 5- 6-year-old kindergarten Results revealed children did not copy shapes more accurately trials, but quicker fluently. In line with previous findings, children's performance on dexterity, interrelated. results indicate over above copy's accuracy, also fluency crucial indicator which related dexterity. findings VMI–EF point strong during new decreasing increasing practice, already trials. New insights into discussed regard underlying cognitive processes.

New Insights into Motor Cortex
An exciting new experiment on the motor cortex of monkeys, by Shenoy and colleagues, begins to elucidate how the neuronal ensemble travels in a systematic fashion through state space. This trajectory through state space may help to explain how the motor cortex sets up and then triggers arm movements.
متن کاملCerebellar activation during copying geometrical shapes.
We studied functional MRI activation in the cerebellum during copying 9 geometrical shapes (equilateral triangle, isosceles triangle, square, diamond, vertical trapezoid, pentagon, hexagon, circle, and vertical lemniscate). Twenty subjects were imaged during 3 consecutive 45-s periods (rest, visual presentation, and copying). First, there was a positive relation between cerebellar activation an...

Objective: Movement is essential for learning. Previous studies explored the relationship between movement and Visual Motor Integration, however, evidence regarding the specific sport skills related to visual motor integration is lacking. Therefore, the purpose current study was the effect of specific sport skills on visual-motor integration in children with motor disability. Method: Participa...
متن کاملThe effect of Badminton skill exercises on visual-motor integration in children with motor disability
Abstract Objective: The purpose of the current study was to investigate the effect of Badminton skill exercises on visual-motor integration in children with motor disability. Method: The participants of this study were 7-12 year old girls who had motor disability backwardness. After giving Henderson initial screening (MABC) test, 40 motor disability girls were chosen that were randomly ass...
متن کاملNew insights into Cdk2 regulation during meiosis.
Cyclin dependent kinases (CDKs) are proline-directed serine/threonine kinases that play a central role in regulating cell cycle progression. Since the activity of CDKs depends on the binding of regulatory subunit named cyclins, the analysis of the CDK functions that have been studied so far has usually gone in parallel to the study of cyclins. However, the proteins referred to as RINGO or Speed...
